OUR EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM
As children receive nurturing care and engage in stimulating experiences they will develop practical life and self-regulation skills. By establishing daily routines and through positive and trusting relationships, educators offer the children opportunities and encouragement to ensure positive growth, responsibility and eventual independence through our educational program of age appropriate activities. This will allow them to develop in the following areas:
SOCIAL AND EMOTIONAL
Emotional development lays the groundwork for social development and successful relationships. Learning to constructively deal with emotions can be challenging for some children. Through positive social interactions in a safe environment, with age-appropriate and consistent approaches, this ensures that our children have opportunities for social and emotional growth. Through interacting with peers and educators they share in meaningful experiences, successfully meeting new challenges and developing relationships.
PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT AND WELLNESS
At CPE Lachine we are all about being ACTIVE! With our outdoor playgrounds and indoor gym, the children have daily opportunities to be active. By participating in physical activities and organized sessions these teach and promote gross motor development and teamwork skills. Through our Healthy Lifestyles program the children’s physical development and wellness take on a prominent role!
LANGUAGE
Comprehension and expression, auditory awareness, vocabulary, pre-reading skills, body and artistic awareness are practiced through a wide range of activities and experiences in order to foster language development.
CREATIVE EXPRESSION
Creative expression allows children to communicate feelings and ideas through activities such as art, music, and dramatic play. Expressions of creativity can be found everywhere! Our role, as educators, is to provide children with materials and opportunities to expand their creativity.
MATH AND COGNITIVE SKILLS
Our educational program provides opportunities for integrated math & cognitive skill development throughout each child’s day. Classroom areas engage children and encourage the development of foundational cognitive learning skills such as memory, critical thinking, problem solving and processing. Children learn to evaluate, analyze, make comparisons and understand cause and effect.
